Southampton Airport is located twenty miles from Portsmouth,
thirty three miles from Bournemouth and sixty six miles from
Brighton. From the city centre of Southampton the airport is
only around four miles away and can easily be reached by car in
less than ten minutes depending upon traffic and the time of
day. You can travel to and from the centre of Southampton and
Southampton Airport by train in less than ten minutes. The
airport terminal itself is less than one hundred steps away
from the railway station. There are rail departures to many
InterCity Destinations and up to three trains an hour to London
Waterloo. There are two coach companies operating bus transfers
to and from Southampton Airport and Southampton University and
the city centre. There are generally coaches every fifteen to
twenty minutes depending on the time of day and season. As you
would expect there is an airport taxi service, which is located
in the main concourse opposite the arrivals hall of the
terminal building. The airport taxi service operated twenty
four hours a day and can be booked in advance. Airport taxis
are not the cheapest but do offer a convenience that is not
