Flights to Southampton

 

Flights to Southampton are now possible from over forty seven European destinations and Southampton airport has the facilities to handle nearly two million passengers flying into Southampton.

Once you get off your flight to Southampton you will first pass through passport control unless you are travelling on a connecting flight. After clearing immigration at passport control you will proceed towards baggage reclaim and then through customs. Please remember that there are lots of flights to Southampton arriving sometimes within a few minutes of each other so relax and get a trolley and find out where your luggage will be (trolleys are free to use) Make sure you never carry anything through customs for anyone else even if they were on the same flight to Southampton as you.

  

If you are meeting a friend or a relative then get then to suggest a suitable meeting point as they are more likely to know the best place to meet in the airport. There are restaurants and bars within the airport, which could also be suitable to meet someone. Southampton airport does not have a designated meeting point however if you need to arrange this in a hurry it could be an idea to use the airport information desk within the terminal building.

Other useful facilities in the airport include a post box, internet access, ATM cash facilities, currency exchange and shops.

There is no smoking areas within the terminal building, it is illegal to smoke anywhere in the airport.

 

If you are arriving on a flight into Southampton and plan on staying in the area there are lots of hotels available from two to five star properties. If you are going on a cruise the following day there are some hotels near the harbour area which are also located within walking distance of shops and bars.

If you plan on staying in the Southampton area your visit might coincide with one of the local or nearby festivals

For events such as the boat show accommodation can fill up early so if you are travelling during a busy event make sure you book in advance.
